Captive Creative by Leah Beech
The inspiration for these three pieces came from the struggle I've been going through recently over the past two months after fracturing my ankle. Not being able to walk is extremely draining on your spirit and soul as well as your physical being and it takes stronger will power to make yourself do anything productive while in that state. Although you feel like your body is imprisoning you, there is still a steady flow of creative thoughts that need to be expressed.
The female heads in each image aren't attached to a body -- representing the disconnect I have been feeling with my own body. They all have bright imagery and plants growing where one's brain would normally be. These plants symbolize the creativity and growth that I am desperately trying to get back to.
All three painting are acrylic and coated in resin.
